Artist's Description

This is a portrait of the artist at the top of Mt. Whitney which is the highest point in the contiguous United States. Note the comet and moon in the sky, a space eye view from Mt. Whitney which symbolizes for the artist how it feels being closer to God at 14,505 ft. If you look straight up while standing on the summit you will see a black sky due to the thin atmosphere.

Ms.Pike is an award winning artist whose paintings are collected by art lovers from North American to Russia. Ms. Pike studied figure drawing and history of art at the University of Michigan where she developed an appreciation for the line and energy of German Expressionism, the spiritual reverence of the Italian Renaissance, the light and color of Impressionism, and the modernism and action of Futurism. Her numerous expeditions into the High Sierras deepened her respect for the mastery of the Hudson River School of landscape artists. She is a member of Oil Painters of America. Ms. Pike obtained a BA in Advertising/Marketing, and an Associates in Graphic and Commercial art, as well as a BS in Aerospace engineering. She has spent the...
