This is the chronologically first piece that started the Jesus and Women suite of paintings. Christ sat in the sand as the men cast the adulterous woman before him, caught in the act of adultery they prepared for the stoning. Christ drew the sins of the accusers in the sand and asked those who were without sin to cast the first stone. They all walked away from the oldest first to the youngest. Satan stands as the leader of the accusers.The work is part of a series of Jesus and Women suites, and is designed as iconic stain glass works for personal devotionals.
About Darcie Pike
Ms.Pike is an award winning artist whose paintings are collected by art lovers from North American to Russia. Ms. Pike studied figure drawing and history of art at the University of Michigan where she developed an appreciation for the line and energy of German Expressionism, the spiritual reverence of the Italian Renaissance, the light and color of Impressionism, and the modernism and action of Futurism. Her numerous expeditions into the High Sierras deepened her respect for the mastery of the Hudson River School of landscape artists. She is a member of Oil Painters of America.
