The thigh is representative of authority. The figure contemplates the authority it bears. The light filters through the gauze of reality and obscures the landscape beyond the window behind the gauze. Most the pigments were hand ground and imported from Germany.
About Darcie Pike
Ms.Pike is an award winning artist whose paintings are collected by art lovers from North American to Russia. Ms. Pike studied figure drawing and history of art at the University of Michigan where she developed an appreciation for the line and energy of German Expressionism, the spiritual reverence of the Italian Renaissance, the light and color of Impressionism, and the modernism and action of Futurism. Her numerous expeditions into the High Sierras deepened her respect for the mastery of the Hudson River School of landscape artists. She is a member of Oil Painters of America.
